Qatar Sets Up First Aid Station at HH The Father Amir Hospital in Gaza

The State of Qatar has launched a first aid station at HH The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics in Gaza, funded by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), to provide emergency medical care for injured residents in northern Gaza.

According to QFFD, the facility is staffed by a specialized medical and nursing team delivering rapid treatment to the wounded, offering available care on-site, and transferring serious cases to hospitals run by the Ministry of Health in Gaza and other medical centers, using ambulances operated by the Ministry of Health, the Palestinian Red Crescent, and local medical services.

In recent weeks, the hospital has treated approximately 2,538 injured individuals and received 220 martyrs. Just last week, it handled 1,227 injuries and 119 martyrs.

QFFD Director General and Hospital Board Chairman Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to supporting the hospital amid the ongoing crisis. He called on the international community to take decisive action to ensure the safe entry of humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians and aid workers.

Al Sulaiti stressed that the escalating situation, targeting of civilians, and severe shortages of medical resources in Gaza represent urgent moral and humanitarian challenges. “Humanitarian aid is not a tool of pressure and must never be used as a weapon against the vulnerable,” he stated.

Hospital Director Ahmad Naeem explained that the new emergency station was established as part of the hospital’s duty to respond to the collapse of the health system in Gaza, especially in the north, where daily casualties arrive in large numbers. He urged international and local medical organizations to supply essential equipment and resources, citing the severe shortages caused by the blockade.

Alongside this new emergency point, the hospital continues to operate its main departments — Prosthetics, Medical Rehabilitation, and Audiology & Balance — as well as the only functioning CT scan unit in northern Gaza, serving hundreds of injured individuals and persons with disabilities every day.
