Ministry announces new update in Metrash app with faster process for vehicle ownership transfer

The General Directorate of Traffic, under the Ministry of Municipality, has rolled out a major upgrade to the vehicle ownership transfer system, now fully integrated into the Metrash mobile app.

This new update significantly improves the speed, security, and convenience of the transfer process. As long as a vehicle has valid registration and no outstanding traffic fines, ownership can now be seamlessly transferred through Metrash.

A key feature of the update is the added buyer verification step, which ensures that the transaction proceeds only after the buyer confirms the transfer through their own Metrash account. This extra measure enhances transparency and safeguards both parties.

To complete a transfer, users can open the Metrash app, go to the Traffic Services section, select Vehicles, and then choose Ownership Transfer. After entering the required details and submitting the request, the buyer is notified to approve the transaction. Once approved, the seller can pay the service fee to finalize the process.

Officials highlighted that this new digital service eliminates the need for physical paperwork or office visits, aligning with Qatar’s ongoing digital transformation strategy to streamline public services and improve user experience.

A Smarter Metrash for a Smarter Nation

Developed by the Ministry of Interior, the revamped Metrash app replaces the earlier Metrash2 platform. It now features a modern interface, biometric login, faster performance, and a host of new functionalities.

The app acts as a unified gateway for a wide range of Ministry of Interior services, allowing users to:

• View and manage personal information, such as Qatar ID and residency status
• Pre-register for travel via the Abu Samra border crossing
• Update passport details or report lost items
• Access digital National Address Certificates
• Obtain digital versions of permanent residency and establishment registration documents
• Report crimes or suspicious activities anonymously
• Use direct debit for secure payment of government services
• Automatically renew residence permits

To ensure accessibility, Metrash supports multiple languages including Arabic, English, French, Malayalam, Urdu, and Spanish.

This digital advancement reflects Qatar’s commitment to creating smarter, citizen-centric services for its residents and nationals.
