Students from Qatar achieved an outstanding milestone at the second edition of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2025), held in Malaysia from July 30 to August 6, 2025, earning one silver medal and two bronze medals.
Organised annually under the sponsorship of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Olympiad promotes the peaceful use of nuclear energy, encourages youth participation in physics, and fosters scientific innovation, cultural exchange, and communication skills among students worldwide.
Qatar’s delegation featured four students: Saeed Ali Al-Marri from Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys; Anuj Kumar from DPS Modern Indian School, who secured the silver medal; Aditya Srinath from Ideal Indian School; and Nivin Manikandan from DPS Modern Indian School, both of whom claimed bronze medals.
The competition included two rigorous assessments, a five-hour theoretical test and a three-and-a-half-hour practical test, evaluating participants’ expertise in nuclear science and physics.
Qatar’s participation followed extensive national qualifying rounds held earlier in the academic year across public, private, and international schools to identify the country’s top talents in the field.
