HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force “Lekhwiya,” who also chairs the Security Committee, met with Qatari security units assigned to secure the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
During the meeting, His Excellency underscored the importance of leveraging Qatar’s accumulated security expertise to ensure the success of the tournament. He emphasized that the professionalism and readiness of Qatari forces reflect the country’s advanced international standing in safeguarding major global events.
In parallel, Lekhwiya launched a trilateral joint urban search and rescue exercise under the patronage of the Minister of Interior. The exercise, running from June 7 to June 12, brings together specialized teams from Qatar, France, and Syria. Participating units include the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group, the France1 and France2 rescue teams, and the Syria Civil Defense.
The drill features real‑life scenario simulations, designed to test operational capabilities in complex environments. These scenarios allow teams to practice rapid response, coordination, and crisis management under conditions that mirror actual emergencies.
Officials explained that the exercise aims to facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen joint coordination among international partners. By working together in simulated missions, the teams enhance their ability to carry out collaborative operations in future international deployments.
The initiative highlights Qatar’s proactive role in promoting global security cooperation, while reinforcing the readiness of its forces to contribute to international humanitarian and rescue missions.
