Qatar Bahrain Passenger Ferry Service Officially Launched Today

Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Bahrain have inaugurated a new 50-minute passenger ferry route covering approximately 35 nautical miles (65 km), connecting Al-Ruwais Port in Qatar with Sa’ada Marina in Bahrain.

The service was officially launched by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Transport, and HE Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, marking a new milestone in maritime cooperation between the two nations.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla highlighted that the project is a strategic and pioneering initiative reflecting the deep brotherly relations between Qatar and Bahrain, while enhancing cooperation and integration among GCC member states. He noted that it also demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to advancing maritime transport and logistics, promoting mutual interests, and strengthening regional economic ties.

The round-trip fare for economy class is set at QR 265. The ferry journey between Al-Ruwais Port and Sa’ada Marina will take around 70 to 80 minutes, with bookings available through the user-friendly MASAR mobile application.

In its initial phase, the service will cater exclusively to GCC nationals. From November 7 to 12, there will be two daily round trips—morning and evening—followed by an increase to three round trips daily from November 13 to 22, with further expansion based on passenger demand.

Both standard and VIP ferries are available, accommodating up to 28 and 32 passengers respectively, and offering modern onboard hospitality. All operations comply with security and customs procedures of both nations to ensure passenger safety.

This initiative marks a significant step in developing the GCC’s maritime transport network, reflecting both countries’ commitment to fostering regional integration, facilitating movement, and supporting a unified, safe, and sustainable Gulf transportation system.
