Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, visited the newly constructed Concourses D and E at Hamad International Airport (HIA), a key milestone in the airport’s strategic expansion plan.
The expansion is designed to accommodate increasing passenger traffic while enhancing travel experience and operational efficiency at HIA, consistently ranked among the world’s best airports.
In early February, HIA inaugurated Concourse E as part of its latest terminal expansion program. The development focuses on improving boarding efficiency, minimizing dependence on remote gates and buses, and integrating accessibility and sustainability-driven design elements.
With an additional 51,000 square meters of space, the expansion includes eight new contact gates, marking a 20% increase in capacity. This upgrade aims to streamline passenger movement, expedite boarding processes, and further reinforce HIA’s position as a global aviation hub.
