Doha Festival City Awarded ‘Diamond Level’
Doha Festival City, Qatar’s destination of coveted trends, has been awarded the Health-Promoting Shopping Mall Project accreditation “Muazzaz”, a GCC-level recognition led by the Gulf Health Council and implemented nationally by Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
The accreditation was presented during a Gulf Health Council ceremony held on 11 February 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking an important milestone for Doha Festival City following one of the most comprehensive public health assessments conducted for a shopping destination in Qatar. Doha Festival City achieved the ‘Diamond Level’ classification, the highest tier within the GCC Health-Promoting Shopping Mall categories.
The MoPH-led evaluation assessed the mall against defined regional standards covering health promotion, environmental quality, safety, hygiene, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement. Doha Festival City successfully completed a multi-stage assessment process, including detailed indoor air quality monitoring, water sampling and analysis, HVAC inspections, hygiene audits, waste management reviews, and preventive maintenance assessments.
A final on-site inspection was conducted in collaboration with GCC public health representatives, with all criteria evaluated using official technical frameworks. The accreditation is valid for three years, reflecting sustained excellence in health and wellbeing standards.
The recognition reflects Doha Festival City’s sustained investment in creating a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible environment for visitors, tenants, and employees, while supporting national health objectives and broader sustainability goals in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Commenting on the milestone, Hayssam Hajjar, Executive Director – Malls, Al-Futtaim Real Estate, said: “Our commitment to becoming a fully certified Health-Promoting Shopping Mall reflects years of dedicated work across all domains of public wellbeing. We are proud to lead this transformation in the region and to set new benchmarks for what a truly healthy public space can be.”
The milestone represents years of sustained effort across all six domains of the Health-Promoting Shopping Mall Project. Doha Festival City has embedded health and wellbeing into its daily operations by encouraging active lifestyles, maintaining high indoor environmental quality, ensuring robust safety and security coverage, supporting national health awareness campaigns, advancing recycling and sustainability initiatives, and delivering inclusive facilities for families, women, and people of all ages.
The accreditation reinforces Doha Festival City’s role as a destination that integrates sustainability, health, and community wellbeing into its everyday operations, contributing to healthier public spaces and more resilient urban communities in Qatar and across the GCC.
